Wording - Cream crackers originated in Ireland and were invented by William Beale Jacob in 1885 at the Jacob's factory in Waterford. The name comes from the "creaming" process of mixing the dough, which makes the cracker light and crisp, not from a dairy ingredient.
“Cream crackered” is Cockney rhyming slang for “knackered”, i.e. worn out or broken beyond repair, scrap value only.
